Dutch Oven Seminar and demonstrations, Saturday June 8, 11am-3pm
The Dutch Oven Seminar and demonstrations are offered to the public at no charge. The seminar will be from 11:00am to 1:00pm, with Dutch Oven demonstrations continuing until 3:00pm. The seminar will cover the basics of Dutch Oven cooking, tools and equipment needed, and common solutions that have been gained from years of experience. Instructor for the seminar is Paul Mantz-Powers, who has been cooking with Dutch Ovens for 38 years. He and some other cooks started the Northwest Dutch Oven Society in Tacoma, and he later helped start four more Dutch Oven Societies, including MCTAMA. Over the years he has burned up tons of charcoal and fire wood cooking in Dutch Ovens. He has taught seminars, competed in Dutch Oven Cook-offs, organized cook-offs, catered, and cooked with and for friends and family. The Dutch Oven demonstrations will be preparing meals for a private potluck held at 5:30. We may be able to lend extra Dutch Ovens and simple supplies if anyone wants to join the potluck, just ask!
